‘The Wall’ is an innovative feature at the Clippers’ new arena, and Kevin Durant was its first victim.
Los Angeles Clippers governor Steve Ballmer spent $2 billion in an attempt to finally get out of the Lakers’ shadow. The Intuit Dome — the Clippers’ state-of-the-art arena — is the result, and on Wednesday night it hosted its first ever game as LA’s other team faced the Phoenix Suns.
The Suns beat the Clippers, 116-113, in overtime.

Taylor Moore holds the early lead at the ZOZO Championship in Japan, but other stars stumbled on day one.
A strong mix of golfers are in Japan this week for the ZOZO Championship, but many PGA Tour stars find themselves nowhere near the top of the leaderboard after day one.
Xander Schauffele carded a 3-over 73 on Thursday and sits in a tie for 70th—only three shots better than dead last in this 78-man field.

Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty wasn’t a household name heading into the season. Sure, those of us who cover college football on an hour-by-hour basis knew who he was. However, there might have been some heads that turned sideways like a dog that heard a high-pitched sound when seeing his name on Heisman Trophy odds boards.
Things have changed quite a bit since then. Jeanty is now the Heisman front-runner at +210 at BetOnline after ripping off an astonishing 1,248 yards and 17 touchdowns in just six games. That meteoric rise could take a mental toll on lesser men. Not Jeanty, though.

Nobody else is like Melo.
LaMelo Ball is back in all his freeform brilliance. On Wednesday night the Hornets guard opened his 2024-25 campaign with an absolutely staggering 34 point night, adding another eight rebounds and 11 assists.
Leading Charlotte to a comeback win over the Rockets, Melo’s night underscored two things: The Hornets might be sneaky good this season, while also confirming that Ball remains one of the NBA’s most-exciting players when he’s on the court.

A man in Canada is in trouble after allegedly crashing a Zamboni while under the influence of alcohol, and he did this while dressed as — of all things — a kangaroo.
According to CTV News, a 25-year-old man was cleaning the ice between a pair of games at a rink in Chelsea, Quebec, at around 9:45 on Oct. 21.
Suspicions were raised when the man behind the wheel of the ice-resurfacer (Zamboni is a brand name; people forget that) crashed into the boards right where the Zamboni door is while a pair of referees looked on.

Xander Schauffele proved during the opening round of the ZOZO Championship that nobody, not even the No. 2 player in the world, is immune to making very dumb decisions on the golf course.
The now-viral moment came on the Par 4 8th hole when Schauffele blocked his teeshot left into the trees. His ball somehow nestled between two roots just inches from the trunk of the tree. He was faced with two options: try to advance the ball into a better position in hopes of maybe walking away with a bogey or taking an unplayable and get to work from there.

In a season he was not expected to see game action, the true freshman could be the spark for NC State football to finish the season strong.
When 2024 three-star quarterback C.J. Bailey stepped foot on campus for the NC State Wolfpack back in the offseason, it seemed like there was a clear progression plan for the freshman.
The Wolfpack had landed experienced Coastal Carolina transfer Grayson McCall to lead the way.
