Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill has popped up as one of the NFL MVP favorites this season.
However, the award has never gone to a receiver in NFL history. When asked recently if he thinks he could win the 2023 award, Hill admitted that “it’s a quarterback award. We all know that.”
Hill would rather see his quarterback Tua Tagovailoa win the award over himself as he continuously hypes up Tagovailoa this season. The receiver reiterated this sentiment when speaking with reporters Friday.
“If Tua won it, I’d be happy,” Hill said. “I’d be happier if Tua won it.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence suffered the injury against the Bengals on Monday night
The Jacksonville Jaguars entered Monday night’s game hoping to move into the top spot in the AFC with a win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
However, their immediate concern has now shifted to the status of quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who left Monday night’s game with an ankle sprain.
Update Sunday: The Jaguars announced on Sunday that Lawrence will start against the Cleveland Browns:

NBA commissioner Adam Silver plans to meet with Grizzlies star Ja Morant in person this week as the suspended player’s return grows near.
Morant has been serving a 25-game suspension to start the 2023–24 NBA season after the Memphis star was seen holding a gun on an Instagram Live video for the second time this year. He originally served an eight-game suspension for the first video.

Nick Foles did not find himself on an NFL roster in 2023. So he did what all bored white people in their mid-30s do: He took up pickleball.
And he’s actually really good at it.
The former Super Bowl MVP took home two gold medals at the PPA Finals in San Clemente, Calif., over the weekend. He teamed up with his wife, Tori, and friend, Jim Davenport, to win the title in both the 3.0 mixed doubles and men’s doubles.

The Lakers won the inaugural in-season tournament Saturday night and, after the win, D’Angelo Russell rubbed some salt in the wound. Apparently, it was a long time coming.
After his team’s 123–109 victory over the Pacers, Russell completely ripped into Bruce Brown. The guard played for the Nuggets last year and was quite the trash talker during the Western Conference finals against the Lakers, apparently. Denver went on to sweep Los Angeles en route to an NBA title, and Russell hasn’t forgotten.
“He was talking s— all year. Yeah.

The inaugural NBA in-season tournament will ultimately go down as a success, which especially stands true for the Lakers. On Saturday night, LeBron James and company emerged with a 123-109 victory over the Pacers behind a dominant showing by Anthony Davis and an excellent performance from Austin Reaves, who was sick ahead of the game.
After Reaves poured in 28 points on 9-of-15 shooting while scoring all but two of the team’s bench points, James made sure everyone was ready to debate the newest edition of Michael Jordan’s “flu game.

The Los Angeles Lakers are champions again.
Sort of.
On Saturday night, LA captured the NBA’s inaugural In-Season Tournament crown, earning each player $500,000 and a piece of history. Not bad for a Christmas bonus. There’s only one problem: Los Angeles still has 59 regular season games to play.
After beating the Pacers handily, Los Angeles celebrated more than any team normally would for a mid-December contest ($500k is reason enough to get excited), but things still felt awkward.
LA is currently 14-9, 5th place in the Western Conference.

With a 2–2 record at the helm for the Raiders, interim coach Antonio Pierce has a real shot at getting the job permanently this offseason. But before that, he plans on learning as much as he can and has apparently began looking for guidance from his past.
During preparation for the Vikings this week, former NFL coaches Tom Coughlin, Marvin Lewis and Adam Gase were all at Raiders headquarters, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The three veterans sat in on meetings to provide guidance on football operations.
